What is Content Advisor?
Content Advisor is a tool for controlling the types of content that your computer can access on the Internet. After you turn on Content Advisor, only rated content that meets or exceeds your criteria can be viewed. You can adjust the settings to suit your preferences.
What settings can I control with Content Advisor?
You can do the following:
- View and adjust the ratings settings to restrict or allow content in each of the following categories: language, nudity, sex, and violence.
- Create a list of websites that should always be blocked, regardless of how their content is rated.
- Create a list of websites that can always be viewed, regardless of how their content is rated.
- View and change the ratings systems Content Advisor uses.
Is Content Advisor turned on by default?
You must turn on Content Advisor if you want to use it.
How do I turn on Content Advisor?
To turn on Content Advisor
Click the button in the content tab of Internet Options

Click a category in the list, and then move the slider to set the limits you want to use.

Repeat this process for each category you want to limit, and then click OK.
Type a supervisor password, confirm it, and type a hint that will remind you what the password is. Click OK.

NOTE: To prevent others from visiting objectionable websites that don't use ratings labels, click the Approved Sites tab, and change the settings as appropriate.

When Content Advisor is first turned on, what level of restriction does it have?
Content Advisor is set to the most conservative (least likely to offend) settings when you first turn it on. In addition to blocking objectionable content, it also blocks any un rated content. You can adjust these settings to match your preferences.

How do I allow people to view content that is restricted or un rated?
To allow others to view restricted or un rated content
- In Internet Explorer, click .
- Click the Content tab, and then, under Content Advisor, click . If you've previously enabled Content Advisor, click , and then type the supervisor password.
- To allow others to view restricted content, click the General tab, and then select the Supervisor can type a password to allow users to view restricted content check box.

to Allow Users to View Restricted Content - To allow others to view un rated content, select the Users can see sites that have no rating check box, and then click OK.
- If a supervisor password has not previously been set up for Content Advisor, you will be prompted to create one.
NOTE: Allowing un rated websites might allow users to browse to objectionable content.
