This page will show how to configure the Outlook Express 4 Email program.
Start Outlook Express 4.

Click on Tools >> Accounts

Click on the Mail tab, this should be empty if this is your first use of Outlook Express 4.

Click on the Add >> Mail option.

In Display Name: Type your full name into the text box.

Click Next to continue.

In E-mail Address: Type Your E-mail Address i.e (info@domain.co.uk)

This must all be in lower case.

Click Next to continue.

For My incoming mail server is a ? server. Type select POP3

In Incoming mail (POP3) server: Type your incoming mailserver i.e. (mail.domain.co.uk)
Your incoming server is mail.mydomain.co.uk, where "mydomain.co.uk" is the name of your domain.

In Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: Type your outgoing mail server as Supplied by your ISP
Enter SMTP server details as supplied by your ISP for outgoing mail server.

These must be in lower case.

Click Next to continue.

In POP account name: Type your username as supplied i.e. username@domain.co.uk.

In Password: enter your password as provided i.e. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Click Next to continue.

In Internet mail account name: type a name for the account. (as you would actually type it using upper and lower case i.e. Linx Data Ltd.)

Click Next to continue.

Choose the radio button for connection - corresponding to how you connect to the internet.

Connect using my phone line will cause Outlook 98 to automatically dial out.

Connect using my local Area Network will connect using an existing LAN (Local Area Network) connection.

I will establish my internet connection manually means that you will have to dial in to your connection yourself before Starting Outlook 98.

Click Next to continue.

That completes the mail setup for Outlook Express.

Click Finish to exit the setup wizard.

At this point, if you are not using a domain name, you can click Close and test your new account by clicking on Send and Receive.

If you have registered a domain name, make sure the Your account is highlighted and click Properties.

Your Domain Email address should be the email address you want replies sent to. You only need to enter an address here if the Reply address: is different to the email address in the field above, if it is the same address you can leave this field blank.

In the Reply address box type your domain name, click OK, then click Close.
